PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Claymont community and countless loved ones are mourning the heartbreaking loss of 31-year-old Netsia Philogene, whose life was tragically cut short in a devastating rollover crash on Interstate 95 Tuesday night. The tragic accident has left family and friends in deep sorrow as they struggle to process the sudden loss of a beloved mother, daughter, and friend.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, the fatal crash occurred around 9 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-95 near the Columbus Boulevard exit in South Philadelphia. Investigators said Philogene, a resident of Claymont, Delaware, was driving a black Toyota Highlander when the violent collision unfolded along the busy interstate.
Witnesses told authorities that Philogene was attempting to merge between two vehicles when her SUV reportedly struck another vehicle. Investigators say the impact caused the Toyota Highlander to lose control before crashing into a barrier and rolling over multiple times. During the violent rollover, Philogene was ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead following the crash.
The tragedy became even more emotional after authorities confirmed that Philogene’s 4-year-old daughter was also inside the SUV at the time of the accident. Miraculously, the child survived without physical injuries and was transported to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia as a precaution.
