19-year-old Jamison Phillips dies days after getting thrown from trailer in St. Martin Parish

A heartbreaking tragedy in St. Martin Parish has left the community grieving the loss of 19-year-old Jamison Phillips of Arnaudville. The young man died days after being thrown from a utility trailer during a roadway incident, leaving family and friends struggling to process the sudden and devastating loss.

According to Louisiana State Police, the crash occurred around noon on Monday, April 6, along LA 686 Frontage Road near LA 347 in the Cecilia area. Investigators say Phillips was riding inside a utility trailer that was being towed by a 2019 Ram 1500 traveling eastbound at the time.

Preliminary findings reveal that the trailer was being used to transport a mattress, with Phillips inside. For reasons still under investigation, he was ejected from the trailer and thrown onto the roadway. The impact left him with severe injuries that required immediate emergency medical attention.

First responders quickly arrived at the scene and transported Phillips to a nearby hospital, where he fought for his life for several days. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he ultimately succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, April 11, turning what began as a serious accident into a fatal tragedy.

Authorities confirmed that the driver of the pickup truck was properly restrained and did not suffer any injuries. As part of the ongoing investigation, routine blood samples were collected and submitted for analysis, though officials have not indicated whether impairment is suspected.

The investigation remains active as troopers work to determine exactly what led to Phillips being thrown from the trailer. As the community mourns, his passing serves as a painful reminder of the dangers associated with unsafe travel conditions, leaving loved ones holding onto memories of a young life lost far too soon.
