43-year-old Jamal Davis fatally Shot Inside Apartment in Brooklyn; Teen Suspect on the Run

A quiet Sunday morning in Brooklyn turned into a scene of chaos and tragedy after a 43-year-old man was shot and killed inside his own apartment. The shocking incident has left residents in the Fort Greene neighborhood deeply unsettled as police continue their search for the suspected gunman.

According to the New York City Police Department, officers responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at approximately 10:52 a.m. on April 12 at 75 Cumberland Walk. When authorities arrived at the 12th-floor apartment, they discovered Jamal Davis suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators say the suspected shooter is the 16-year-old son of Davis’s girlfriend, who also lived in the apartment. Sources familiar with the case revealed that the shooting may have followed a heated argument between the two. However, the exact cause of the dispute has not been officially confirmed by authorities.

Davis was struck in the chest and arm during the confrontation. Emergency medical personnel quickly transported him to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in a desperate effort to save his life. Despite their attempts, he was later pronounced dead, leaving family and friends grieving a sudden and violent loss.

Reports from ABC7 suggest the argument may have been related to smoking inside the apartment, though investigators have not verified this detail. After the shooting, the teenage suspect fled the scene on foot and remains at large, prompting an urgent search by law enforcement.

The incident drew a large police presence, including the NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit, who entered the building equipped with protective gear and long guns while searching for the suspect. Despite their efforts, no arrest has been made. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing as they work to locate the suspect and determine the full circumstances behind this tragic killing.
