Bourbonnais Woman Killed in Early Morning I-55 Crash

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — The Bourbonnais community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 26-year-old Melissa Prosser, who tragically died early Sunday morning following a devastating crash on Interstate 55 in Will County. The sudden loss has left family, friends, and loved ones struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.

According to Illinois State Police, troopers were dispatched just before 3:15 a.m. to a two-vehicle collision in the southbound lanes of I-55 near mile marker 246 in Channahon. Emergency crews arrived quickly and immediately began rendering aid, working urgently to assist those injured in the crash.

The Will County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Prosser was transported to St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Joliet after the collision. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. Her passing has left a deep void in the lives of those who knew and loved her.

Authorities reported that the second driver involved in the crash sustained injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. However, officials have not released further information regarding that individual’s condition as the investigation remains ongoing.
