The peaceful community of Liberty Township, Ohio, is mourning after a tragic discovery inside a home earlier this week revealed the deaths of an elderly couple. What began as a simple welfare check quickly turned into a heartbreaking scene that has left neighbors stunned and searching for answers.

Authorities have identified the victims as 72-year-old Claire Olmsted Buckley and her husband, 70-year-old Frederick Buckley. According to the Butler County Coroner’s Office, the incident is being investigated as an apparent murder-suicide, a devastating event that unfolded behind closed doors in their residence on Hidden Oaks Lane.

The situation came to light on Wednesday afternoon around 2:51 p.m. when deputies from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the home. A concerned family member had requested a welfare check after not hearing from the couple for several days, raising fears that something may be wrong.

When deputies entered the residence, they were met with a tragic and disturbing scene. Both Claire and Frederick Buckley were found deceased inside the home, each having suffered gunshot wounds. The coroner later confirmed that Claire died from gunshot wounds and ruled her death a homicide, while Frederick died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
