A welfare check in San Antonio led to a disturbing discovery after authorities found a 54-year-old man dead inside a home, with his son later arrested in connection with efforts to conceal the death. The case has shocked the community as investigators continue to uncover details surrounding the incident.
According to San Antonio Police Department, the investigation began when an out-of-town family member requested a welfare check after being unable to reach Daniel Antonio Ordonez. Using location data from the victim’s phone and smartwatch, officers were led to one of his rental properties, where his truck was discovered with a bullet hole in the driver’s side window.
Police then proceeded to the residence where Ordonez lived with his son, 31-year-old Daniel Sebastian Ordonez. During their search, officers located a large black trash bag in a rear structure that was reportedly leaking blood. Upon examination, the bag was found to contain human remains, later confirmed to be those of the missing father.
Investigators reported finding drag marks and evidence suggesting an attempted cleanup. Chemical agents used at the scene revealed traces of blood in multiple areas of the home, including the laundry room, hallway, bathroom, and outside the residence, indicating efforts to conceal what had occurred.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office later determined that Daniel Antonio Ordonez died from a gunshot wound to the head, ruling the death a homicide. Authorities also reviewed surveillance footage from stores such as Walmart and Home Depot, which allegedly showed the son purchasing items believed to be linked to attempts to hide the crime.
Daniel Sebastian Ordonez was arrested about a week after the discovery of the body and has been charged with tampering with evidence and failure to report human remains. At this time, he has not been charged with murder, and the investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the case.
