Body Recovered from Merrimack River Identified as Missing Allenstown Man

A somber discovery in Hooksett has brought a tragic end to the search for a missing man after authorities confirmed the body recovered from the Merrimack River is that of 25-year-oldĀ  of Allenstown. The heartbreaking news has left family, friends, and community members grieving a life lost too soon.

According to New Hampshire State Police, search efforts were temporarily suspended overnight due to darkness before resuming at approximately 8 a.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2026. Just over an hour later, at around 9:15 a.m., members of the New Hampshire Fish and Game Dive Team located and recovered Willey’s body from the river.

Investigators believe Jeremiah Willey accidentally fell into the water while walking along a railroad bridge near Riverside Street. A witness reported seeing him struggling to stay afloat before he disappeared beneath the surface and did not resurface, prompting an immediate emergency response and search operation.

Search crews worked methodically, utilizing boats equipped with side-scan sonar technology and deploying trained divers to examine the river. The effort involved coordination between multiple agencies, including New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol, Troops D and G, as well as the Hooksett Police and Fire Departments.

Officials have stated that Willey’s death is not considered suspicious at this time. However, the investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to review the circumstances surrounding the incident and confirm all details related to the tragic fall.

As the community mourns, those who knew Jeremiah Willey are remembering him for the life he lived and the connections he made. His loss has left a deep void, and loved ones are now leaning on one another for support while honoring his memory during this difficult time.
