The city of Wichita is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 29-year-old Adam Wayne Condit, whose life was tragically cut short in a hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning. Family members, friends, and community members are grieving the sudden death as authorities continue searching for the driver responsible for the fatal incident.
According to the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened shortly after midnight on March 15, 2026, along the 5800 block of West Windmill Road. The location is near the well-known Sedgwick County Zoo. Deputies responded to reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle in the area.
Investigators say Adam Wayne Condit was walking along the roadway when he was hit by a pickup truck. The impact left him with severe injuries. Deputies and emergency medical personnel rushed to the scene in an attempt to help, but despite their efforts, Condit was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said the driver involved in the crash did not remain at the scene and fled the area after the collision. The incident is being treated as a hit-and-run, and investigators immediately began working to locate the vehicle and identify the person responsible for the deadly crash.
