Authorities in Conroe are investigating a tragic domestic violence incident that left two women dead inside a home on Monday afternoon. The deadly case, which has shocked the local community, is being handled by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Officials say the situation began with a distressing 911 call reporting a violent family dispute that quickly escalated into a deadly shooting.
According to investigators, deputies were dispatched at approximately 2:00 p.m. to a residence in the 300 block of Shoreview Drive. During the emergency call, the caller reportedly told dispatchers that a vehicle had been intentionally driven into the home. While still on the line, dispatchers also heard the sound of gunfire in the background. The alarming situation prompted deputies and emergency responders to rush to the scene as quickly as possible.
When law enforcement officers arrived at the residence, they entered the home and discovered two women suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Despite the rapid response from first responders, both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The shocking discovery left investigators working quickly to secure the area while beginning the difficult task of piecing together exactly what had happened inside the home.
Authorities later identified the victims as Tara Hardin, 57, who was the suspect’s wife, and Floris Wolford, 80, the suspect’s mother-in-law. Investigators believe the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute, though detectives are continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses to better understand the events that led to the tragic shooting.
Officials say that after the shooting, the suspect fled the home on foot and went to a nearby residence belonging to his son. There, he allegedly asked for transportation to another home located in the 12000 block of Ivy Lane. Deputies later located the suspect, identified as Stanley Earl Hardin, 57, at that residence and took him into custody without incident.
Hardin has since been charged with capital murder and is currently being held without bond at the Montgomery County Jail. Multiple agencies, including Major Crimes Detectives, Crime Scene Investigators, the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, and the Montgomery County Medical Examiner’s Office, are assisting with the ongoing investigation. Authorities say they remain committed to seeking justice for the victims as the case continues to unfold.
