TikTok Mom, Rachel Tussey Dies After ‘Mommy Makeover’ Complications, Family Says

A heartbreaking tragedy has unfolded after an Ohio mother and TikTok creator reportedly died following complications from cosmetic surgery. Rachel Tussey, 47, had been documenting her “mommy makeover” journey online, sharing her excitement and hopes with thousands of followers before the procedure. Her sudden death has left her family, friends, and online community in deep shock.

Tussey, a mother of three from the Cincinnati area, had built a following of more than 78,000 people on TikTok, where she shared midlife lifestyle content. Ahead of her February 25 surgery, she posted videos expressing optimism about the transformation, calling it a long-awaited step toward boosting her confidence. In one of her final clips, recorded from a hospital bed, she told viewers she was “in good hands” and asked for prayers.

According to her husband, Jeremy Tussey, complications began shortly after the procedure at a plastic surgery center. He said his wife became unresponsive while in recovery, forcing medical staff to perform CPR and call emergency services. The situation quickly turned critical, leaving loved ones fearing the worst.

Doctors at TriHealth Bethesda North Hospital later informed the family that Tussey had gone without oxygen for more than six minutes. The lack of oxygen caused severe brain damage, and she was eventually declared brain dead. She was placed on life support and later transferred to hospice care as her condition did not improve.

An online fundraiser created to support the family described the situation as a case of possible medical neglect. Organizers said Tussey suffered an extended loss of oxygen that left her with minimal brain activity. The campaign quickly gained attention, as supporters expressed grief and called for answers surrounding the circumstances of her care.

In a painful update shared on March 18, her husband confirmed that Tussey had passed away the night before while in hospice care. Her death has sparked conversations about the risks of cosmetic surgery and the importance of patient safety. As her loved ones mourn, many remember Rachel Tussey as a devoted mother and a woman who openly shared her journey, never expecting it would end in tragedy.
