Motorcyclist, Preston Workman Killed in fatal Crash on Sligo Road, Haughton

HAUGHTON, La. — The Haughton community is mourning the tragic and unexpected loss of 43-year-old Preston Workman, who was killed early Monday morning in a motorcycle crash along Sligo Road. The heartbreaking incident has left family, friends, and loved ones struggling to process the sudden loss of a man remembered for his warmth and vibrant spirit.

According to Louisiana State Police Troop G, the crash occurred around 1 a.m. near Mayflower Road. Preliminary reports indicate that Workman was traveling eastbound on a 2025 Harley-Davidson when his motorcycle crossed the centerline. Investigators say the bike then struck an uneven section of the shoulder, which caused it to overturn, leading to the fatal crash.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and worked to provide aid. Despite their efforts, Workman sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed that he was wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time, though the impact proved to be fatal.
