20-Year-Old Mya Parker killed in Fatal Shooting in McKees Rocks; Suspect Charged

A tragic shooting inside a home in McKees Rocks on Friday night has claimed the life of a 20-year-old woman, leaving a community in mourning and authorities searching for answers. The incident, which unfolded in the evening hours, has raised concern among residents as details continue to emerge.

Police identified the victim as Mya Parker. According to officials, she was found with a gunshot wound to the head inside a residence located along the 20 block of Singer Avenue. The discovery was made shortly after 8:00 p.m., following urgent calls reporting a shooting at the home.

Allegheny County dispatchers confirmed that police officers and emergency medical crews were sent to the scene at approximately 8:05 p.m. Upon arrival, first responders found Parker in critical condition. They immediately provided life-saving aid before rushing her to a nearby hospital in hopes of saving her life.

Despite those efforts, Parker later died from her injuries. Her death has deeply impacted those who knew her and has left neighbors shaken by the violence that occurred so close to home. Many in the area are still trying to process how such a tragic event could happen in their community.

As investigators worked to determine what led to the shooting, authorities coordinated with the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office. Following that review, 19-year-old Jayden Knight was charged with criminal homicide in connection with the case. Officials have not yet shared what may have led to the deadly encounter.

Knight is currently being held at the Allegheny County Jail while awaiting a preliminary hearing. Police say the investigation remains ongoing as they continue gathering evidence and speaking with witnesses. Authorities are encouraging anyone with additional information to come forward as they seek to fully understand the circumstances surrounding the tragic loss of Mya Parker.
