A tragic crash in Shelby County has claimed the life of a 32-year-old motorcyclist, leaving both local residents and loved ones in mourning. The devastating incident, which involved a motorcycle and an SUV, unfolded Monday evening and remains under investigation by authorities.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the victim has been identified as Melvin Fabicio Acevedo Alvarado, a resident of Conroe, Texas. Officials say his life was cut short in a violent collision that occurred far from home, adding to the heartbreak felt by those who knew him.
The crash happened at approximately 6:57 p.m. on Shelby County 10 near Shelby County 22, about three miles north of Montevallo. Authorities reported that Alvarado was riding a Kawasaki Ninja 400 ABS motorcycle when it collided head-on with a Nissan Pathfinder.
Senior Trooper Gregory Corble stated that the SUV was being driven by 45-year-old Arriaga Alejandro Gonzalez, also of Montevallo. The impact of the crash was severe, and Alvarado was thrown from his motorcycle during the collision. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gonzalez sustained injuries in the crash and was transported to Baptist Health Shelby Hospital for treatment. His current condition has not been publicly disclosed. The incident has raised concerns about roadway safety as investigators work to determine what led to the deadly collision.
