SPRING VALLEY, Minn. — Authorities in southeastern Minnesota are continuing to investigate a tragic pedestrian crash that claimed the life of a 67-year-old woman early Tuesday morning in Spring Valley. The heartbreaking incident has left the community shaken as investigators work to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the deadly collision along Highway 63.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash occurred near West Tracy Road during the early morning hours. Officials said 67-year-old Melody Ann Raveill was attempting to cross Highway 63 when she was struck by multiple vehicles traveling through the area. Emergency responders were dispatched quickly after reports of the incident, but authorities confirmed that Raveill suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators identified the three vehicles involved in the collision as a 2004 Chevy Express, a 1999 Pontiac Bonneville, and a 2017 Honda Odyssey. Authorities stated that none of the occupants inside those vehicles were injured during the incident. Following the crash, emergency crews worked to secure the scene while investigators gathered evidence and directed traffic around the area.

Officials noted that road conditions were wet at the time of the crash, which may have affected visibility and driving conditions during the early morning hours. Authorities continue reviewing all circumstances connected to the incident as part of the ongoing investigation.

Emergency personnel from the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office, Spring Valley Fire Department, and local EMS agencies all responded to assist at the scene. Investigators remained in the area for several hours documenting evidence and reconstructing the sequence of events leading up to the fatal crash.

The tragic loss of Melody Ann Raveill has deeply affected the Spring Valley community and serves as another reminder of the dangers pedestrians can face along busy highways, especially during overnight and early morning conditions when visibility may be limited.
