Mark Palacio Fatally Stabbed After Downtown Altercation in San Angelo; Suspects Arrested

The San Angelo, Texas community is mourning the tragic loss of 32-year-old Mark Palacio, who died after being stabbed during a late-night altercation on Saturday, March 21, 2026. According to San Angelo police, officers were dispatched around 1:29 a.m. after receiving reports of a stabbing in the 100 block of East Concho Avenue. When they arrived, they found Palacio suffering from serious stab wounds near the parking lot of the former Western Mattress building. He was rushed to Shannon Medical Center, where he later died despite extensive efforts by medical staff to save his life.

Investigators determined that the incident began earlier in the night at Pour House Bar on Paint Rock Road, where an initial altercation took place. The individuals involved later moved to the downtown area and were denied entry to Ranch 125. Authorities say tensions escalated further in a nearby parking lot, where a second confrontation occurred.

During the fight, Palacio was stabbed in the abdomen. Police reported that after the stabbing, the other individuals fled the scene while Palacio attempted to leave but collapsed in the street. Emergency responders arrived shortly after, but his injuries proved fatal.

Detectives later identified those involved in the altercation. Johnny Fernandez, 41, of San Angelo, has been arrested and charged with murder, with bond set at $1,000,000. Pedro Rivera, 25, was also taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Authorities say Rivera allegedly wielded a knife and threatened Palacio during the confrontation.

This incident marks the second homicide in San Angelo within just four days, raising concerns within the community. As the investigation continues, officials are working to gather all details surrounding the case.
