According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the deadly wreck occurred around 3:45 a.m. on May 16 along Highway 2 near Culver Township, close to milepost 236. Authorities said a Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling eastbound when it crossed into the oncoming lane before gradually drifting into the north ditch. Investigators reported that the vehicle then crashed violently into a power pole, snapping it in half from the force of the impact and leaving behind a scene of major destruction.
Officials said the Jeep eventually came to rest facing westbound with all four tires on the ground.
