The East Haven community is mourning the tragic death of Donna Caponera after authorities say she was fatally stabbed inside a home on Edgemere Road. According to the East Haven Police Department, officers responded to a residence on Edgemere Road around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026, after receiving reports of a medical emergency. During their search of the residence, officers discovered a severely injured woman in an adjacent room.

Police identified the suspect as Sean McCormack, 56, who authorities confirmed is the victim’s brother. Following the incident, McCormack was transported to a local hospital. On Saturday, May 16, investigators formally charged him with murder. Officials stated he is currently being held on a $2 million bond while remaining in police custody at an area medical facility.
