Firefighter Cooper Bailey, Wife and Young Son Killed in Tragic Crash in Texas

The small community of Paradise is mourning the heartbreaking loss of firefighter Cooper Bailey, 34, along with his wife Jennifer and their young son Hudson, who were killed Saturday evening in a devastating crash in Cooke County. The tragic incident has left family members, fellow firefighters, and residents grieving the sudden loss of a beloved local family.

According to Wise County Emergency Services District 3, Cooper Bailey was an off-duty firefighter at the time of the crash. The department shared the tragic news in a message to the community, describing Bailey as a dedicated member whose commitment to serving others left a lasting impact. Officials asked the public to keep the Bailey family in their prayers and to respect the family’s privacy during what they described as an unimaginable loss.

Authorities with the Texas Department of Public Safety reported that the crash occurred at approximately 8:20 p.m. Saturday along Farm Road 51 near County Road 383. Troopers responding to the scene discovered a serious two-vehicle collision involving a Kia SUV and a Nissan SUV. The impact of the crash was severe, leaving both vehicles heavily damaged and creating a tragic scene along the rural roadway.

Preliminary findings from investigators indicate that the driver of the Kia SUV was traveling southbound when the vehicle entered a No-Passing Zone and attempted to pass another car. During the maneuver, the Kia collided head-on with an oncoming Nissan SUV. The force of the crash caused the Nissan to catch fire, further intensifying the already devastating situation for those involved.

Officials confirmed that the driver of the Kia SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and two passengers in the Nissan SUV also died at the location of the crash. Another passenger from the Nissan was seriously injured and was flown to Cook Children’s Medical Center for emergency treatment.

Authorities have not yet publicly released the names of all the victims involved in the crash as they continue working to notify family members. The tragedy has deeply shaken the Paradise community, where many are remembering Cooper Bailey not only as a firefighter but also as a devoted husband and father. As the investigation continues, residents are coming together to support one another while mourning the devastating loss of lives cut short in the crash.
