28-year-old Dan Canniff of “2DownDan” Killed in Fatal Motorcycle Crash in San Diego

The motorcycle community and thousands of social media followers are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Dan Canniff, the 28-year-old rider and content creator widely known online as “2DownDan,” who tragically died Friday afternoon following a crash in San Diego’s El Cerrito neighborhood. According to the San Diego Police Department, the fatal collision occurred around 12:56 p.m. near the intersection of El Cajon Boulevard and 56th Street. Investigators said a 22-year-old woman driving a 2019 Toyota sedan was traveling westbound on El Cajon Boulevard and attempting to make a left turn onto 56th Street while operating with a green traffic signal.

At the same time, authorities said Dan Canniff was riding eastbound on El Cajon Boulevard on his Kawasaki Ninja 500 motorcycle, also with a green light, when the motorcycle collided with the front passenger side of the Toyota. The impact of the collision caused severe injuries, prompting emergency responders to rush to the scene and transport Canniff to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.

Despite life-saving efforts by medical personnel, authorities confirmed that Canniff later died from the injuries he sustained in the crash. The driver of the Toyota sedan was also transported to a hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries. Police stated that alcohol is not believed to have played a role in the collision as investigators continue working to determine all the circumstances surrounding the deadly crash.
