55-year-old Michelle Littleton Killed in Head-On Crash in Florence

A tragic wrong-way crash in Florence has claimed the life of a 55-year-old woman, leaving investigators working urgently to determine what led to the fatal collision. The devastating incident has raised concerns about highway safety and the dangers of driving in the wrong direction.

According to the Florence Police Department, the crash occurred on April 11 at approximately 9 p.m. along Mall Road. Emergency crews were dispatched shortly after reports of a severe head-on collision involving multiple vehicles, prompting a swift response from police and medical personnel.

Authorities identified the victim as Michelle Littleton of Cincinnati. Preliminary investigations indicate that Littleton was traveling the wrong way on the roadway at the time of the crash, moving northbound in a southbound lane before the collision occurred. Investigators believe this led directly to the head-on impact.

Police say the crash was extremely violent, causing major damage to both vehicles involved. Despite the immediate arrival of emergency responders, Littleton suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The sudden loss has left family and community members grieving.

Another person involved in the crash survived but sustained injuries that were described as non-life-threatening. That individual was transported to Saint Elizabeth Hospital for medical treatment. Authorities have not yet confirmed which vehicle the injured person was in at the time of the crash.

At this stage, investigators say it is still unclear what caused the wrong-way driving, including whether impairment, confusion, or other factors may have contributed. The Florence Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is carefully examining vehicle positions, roadway evidence, and witness statements as part of the ongoing investigation, while also urging anyone with information to assist in helping bring clarity to this tragic and deadly crash.
