22-year-old Elijio Beltran killed in Tragic Rollover Crash Near Liberal Animal Shelter

LIBERAL, Kan. — The Liberal community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 22-year-old Elijio Beltran, who was killed early Sunday morning in a violent rollover crash along U.S. Highway 83 in Seward County. The tragic incident has left family, friends, and residents in shock as they come to terms with the sudden loss.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just after 3 a.m. near the Liberal Animal Shelter. Troopers reported that a 1999 Ford F-150 was traveling northbound when, for reasons still unknown, the truck veered onto a curb. The impact caused the vehicle to fishtail uncontrollably before rolling multiple times.

Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene and transported Beltran to a local hospital for treatment. Despite efforts to save his life, he later succumbed to his injuries. His passing has left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

The driver of the vehicle, a 25-year-old man from Liberal, was also seriously injured in the crash and taken to the hospital. Authorities have not released his identity, and his current condition has not been publicly updated as the investigation continues.

Investigators noted that neither Beltran nor the driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, a factor that may have contributed to the severity of the injuries sustained. The violent nature of the rollover highlights the dangers associated with losing control of a vehicle at high speeds.

As the Kansas Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, the Liberal community is left grieving a young life taken far too soon. Friends, family, and neighbors are extending thoughts, prayers, and support to Beltran’s loved ones during this incredibly difficult time, while officials remind drivers of the importance of seatbelt use and safe driving practices.
