BROKEN BOW, Okla. — The Broken Bow community is mourning the tragic and untimely death of 21-year-old Braden Uhlmann, who was fatally shot early Saturday morning at a residence off Rockhill Circle. The heartbreaking incident has left family, friends, and neighbors in shock as they try to process the sudden loss.
According to the McCurtain County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the scene just before 1:00 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found Uhlmann suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency responders acted quickly, transporting him to a nearby hospital, but despite their efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) determined that 22-year-old Nolan Engel, who was present at the residence at the time of the incident, was responsible for the shooting. Authorities confirmed that Engel was taken into custody and booked into the McCurtain County Jail on a complaint of second-degree murder. No other injuries were reported.
