PORT ST. JOHN, Fla. — A tragic shooting on Sunday, November 16, 2025, has left a Port St. John woman dead and her boyfriend behind bars. The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that 28-year-old Lendzi Lakeman was shot and killed in a residential neighborhood, and 23-year-old Tyjah Bellinger has been arrested in connection with her death.
The incident unfolded shortly after 12:15 p.m., when multiple 911 callers reported gunfire in the 7000 block of Carlow Avenue. Deputies rushed to the scene and found Lakeman suffering from several gunshot wounds. Despite immediate efforts by first responders to save her life, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The discovery shocked residents in the quiet Port St. John community, where violent crimes of this nature are rare.
Investigators quickly identified Lakeman’s boyfriend, Tyjah Bellinger, as the primary suspect. Patrol deputies launched a coordinated search across several locations in an effort to locate him. After tracking leads, deputies found Bellinger at a residence on Dallas Avenue, where he was taken into custody without incident. Authorities say the swift arrest was the result of strong teamwork and rapid communication among responding officers.
Members of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit processed evidence across multiple locations tied to the shooting. After reviewing the initial evidence and witness information, investigators obtained an arrest warrant charging Bellinger with 1st Degree Premeditated Murder. He was transported to the Brevard County Jail, where he remains held without bond.
Deputies are continuing their investigation, focusing on gathering additional evidence and interviewing individuals who may have insight into the circumstances leading up to the shooting. Detectives have not yet released details about a possible motive, and officials say more information will be shared as the case develops. For now, the priority remains establishing a clear timeline and understanding the events that unfolded before the fatal gunfire.
Anyone with information that could aid the investigation is encouraged to contact Agent Kevin Morris of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit at (321) 633-8413.
