Troy Hutchison & Rodrell Jeter killed in Deadly I-640 Shooting

Authorities in Knoxville have released the identities of the two men killed in a weekend shooting on Interstate 640, as investigators work to locate the suspect responsible for the deadly attack. The victims were identified as 33-year-old Troy Hutchison of Atlanta, Georgia, and 25-year-old Rodrell Jeter of Detroit, Michigan. The shooting, which occurred in the early-morning hours of November 16, also left a third man critically injured. Police later confirmed that the injured victim remains hospitalized in stable condition.

According to the Knoxville Police Department, the shooting unfolded shortly after 3:40 a.m. when an SUV carrying four men pulled over near Gap Road. During the stop, one of the men inside the vehicle opened fire on the others before fleeing the scene. The suspect drove away in a separate vehicle, leaving the remaining occupants gravely injured. Responding officers arrived to find Hutchison and Jeter suffering fatal gunshot wounds, while the surviving victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

Investigators are now searching for a light-colored, newer-model Ford Bronco with Michigan license plates, which is believed to be connected to the suspect. Authorities noted that the vehicle may have already left the Knoxville area, raising the possibility that the suspect traveled out of state immediately after the shooting. Despite this, police emphasized that their search remains active and that they are following every available lead. Detectives continue reviewing surveillance footage, gathering witness statements, and analyzing evidence in hopes of identifying and locating the shooter.

In an official statement, Knoxville police reiterated their commitment to the case, saying, “Efforts remain ongoing to identify and locate the suspect.” Officials also stressed the importance of public assistance in cases of violent crime, urging anyone with information to come forward. Even small details, they noted, could play a crucial role in determining the suspect’s direction of travel or possible whereabouts.

East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers is accepting anonymous tips from the public, and individuals who provide helpful information may be eligible for a cash reward. Anyone with details regarding the suspect, the Ford Bronco, or the events leading up to the shooting is urged to call 865-215-7165. Police hope community cooperation will accelerate the investigation and prevent further violence.

The deaths of Hutchison and Jeter have deeply affected their families and communities, while the ongoing investigation serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by armed violence on public roadways. As authorities continue their search for the suspect, they remain focused on delivering justice for the victims and ensuring the safety of motorists across Knoxville.
