The community of Lakeland is mourning the loss of 48-year-old Steven Michael Magee, who was fatally shot early Thursday morning outside a local pool hall. According to the Lakeland Police Department, the shooting occurred at approximately 12:35 a.m. on March 5, 2026, outside Wally’s Poolhall on East Main Street. Investigators reported that an argument between two patrons outside the establishment escalated into a violent exchange of gunfire.
Witnesses at the scene told police that one of the individuals involved in the altercation drew a handgun and fired at the other man. Magee, the victim, reportedly returned fire with his own firearm.
