CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — A pedestrian critically injured in a vehicle crash Sunday evening has died, prompting an ongoing investigation by Chesterfield County Police. Authorities confirmed Tuesday that 24-year-old Shawn M. Humphrey succumbed to his injuries two days after the collision, leaving family, friends, and the community mourning a young life lost too soon.
According to police, the crash occurred at approximately 7 p.m. on February 8 in the 15000 block of Woods Edge Road. Investigators say a 2011 Acura MDX was traveling eastbound when it struck Humphrey, who was on the roadway at the time. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported Humphrey, who lived in the 1700 block of Southcreek Drive, to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
