Shanna Monique Killed in Violent Logan Square Crash After Car Slams Into Semi-Truck

A tragic early-morning crash in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood has claimed the life of 31-year-old Shanna Monique. Authorities confirmed her identity Monday after the violent collision left the community shaken and searching for answers.

The crash happened around 1:30 a.m. in the 3800 block of West Diversey Avenue. According to Chicago Police, two women were traveling westbound in a black sedan when the driver suddenly lost control. The car first struck a parked vehicle with significant force, causing it to bounce across the roadway and directly into the rear of an eastbound semi-truck.

Monique, who was riding in the passenger seat, was thrown from the vehicle upon impact. Despite the swift arrival of emergency crews and their attempts to save her, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her death has left many grieving, and the violent nature of the crash has drawn strong reactions from neighbors who heard the collision in the early hours of the morning.

The driver, also 31, survived the crash and was transported to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where officials say she was in good condition. Police reported that the driver of the semi-truck was not injured and declined medical attention after the incident. No additional injuries were reported by authorities.

Investigators are still working to determine why the driver lost control of the sedan. Police say citations for the driver are pending, though no further details have been released regarding what factors—such as speed, road conditions, or potential impairment—may have played a role.

The Chicago Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. As the community absorbs the tragedy, loved ones of Shanna Monique are left mourning a life cut short in a violent and sudden accident.
