Authorities say the blaze broke out in the early hours of February 26, prompting a frantic emergency response as flames consumed the home.
According to officials, first responders arrived within minutes of receiving a 911 call reporting that the residence was completely engulfed in flames. Fire crews encountered heavy fire conditions upon arrival, with the structure already overtaken by intense heat and smoke. Despite their rapid response, the severity of the blaze made rescue efforts extremely challenging.
Crews from several neighboring departments assisted at the scene, working together to battle the fast-moving fire. Firefighters spent hours extinguishing hotspots and securing the property to prevent further damage. The scale of the response highlighted the seriousness of the situation as thick smoke could be seen rising over the area.
The victims were identified as 66-year-old Ray Drzewiecki and his wife, 64-year-old Beverly Drzewiecki. Authorities confirmed that both were transported to the Genesee County Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination. Several dogs inside the home also perished in the fire, adding to the heartbreak felt by loved ones.
