Westdale Middle counselor found dead on Former Baton Rouge Campus

BATON ROUGE — A Westdale Middle Magnet School counselor accused of inappropriately messaging a minor was found dead Wednesday on the campus of the former Glen Oaks Middle School, authorities confirmed. Sources tell WBRZ that the discovery was made the same day an arrest warrant was issued naming the counselor in the case, bringing a sudden and tragic end to an investigation that had been unfolding for weeks.

The deceased was identified as Quinton Dixon. According to sources, Dixon’s body was found inside an unused building on the former Glen Oaks Middle School campus. The Baton Rouge Police Department said preliminary findings indicate Dixon died by suicide. Officials have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding his death as the investigation continues.

Dixon had been placed on administrative leave earlier this month after allegations surfaced that he had been sending inappropriate messages to a minor. WBRZ previously reported that the school district took action roughly two weeks ago, removing him from his duties while the matter was reviewed. Parents and community members had expressed concern as details of the allegations began to emerge.

Court records show that an arrest warrant was filed Wednesday charging Dixon with four counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile. According to the warrant, investigators allege Dixon sent multiple inappropriate messages to a 14-year-old girl through Instagram between early November and early January. The messages allegedly included repeated comments about the girl’s appearance, calling her attractive, and offering to give her rides home from school.

The case raised serious concerns about student safety and professional boundaries within the school system. School officials have not yet released a statement following Dixon’s death, but the situation has left many in the community shaken, particularly given the timing of the warrant and the discovery of his body just hours later.

Baton Rouge police said the criminal investigation into the allegations will be closed due to Dixon’s death, though records related to the case will remain on file. Authorities have emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to students or the community. As the situation continues to be reviewed, officials urge anyone affected by the case or struggling with emotional distress to seek help through local support services or crisis hotlines.
