A deadly head-on crash claimed the lives of two drivers Monday evening in Marshall County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The collision happened along US Highway 377 near Coleman Road and led to the temporary shutdown of the roadway as emergency crews responded and investigators worked the scene.
Troopers said the crash occurred when a vehicle driven by Michael Stiverson, 60, of Gordonville, crossed the center line of the highway for reasons that remain unclear. Investigators said Stiverson’s vehicle then collided head-on with another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. The second vehicle was being driven by Nickii Cryer, 69, of Kingston.
The impact of the crash was severe. Troopers confirmed that both Stiverson and Cryer suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. No other occupants were reported in either vehicle, and authorities did not indicate that any additional vehicles were involved in the collision.
Marshall County Sheriff Donald Yow said multiple emergency agencies responded to the crash, including sheriff’s deputies, state troopers, firefighters, and emergency medical crews. Due to the seriousness of the wreck, US 377 was shut down for an extended period of time to allow first responders to assist and to give investigators time to document evidence and clear the roadway safely.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol stated that the cause of the crash remains under investigation. At this time, officials have not said whether speed, impairment, medical issues, or road conditions played a role.
