Authorities in Charleston County have identified the man who was fatally shot late Wednesday night outside KC Mulligans, a popular bar and gathering spot. Officials say the victim, 29-year-old Kevin Lamar Green of Ladson, was pronounced dead at the scene around 11:35 p.m., according to the Charleston County Coroner’s Office.
Police say officers responded to reports of gunfire outside the establishment late Wednesday evening. When they arrived, they found Green suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. Despite the quick response from emergency personnel, he could not be saved and was declared dead at the scene, leaving the community shocked by the sudden act of violence.
Investigators with the North Charleston Police Department later identified a suspect in the case as 17-year-old Maxwell Thomas Koller from Summerville. Authorities said Koller fled the area following the shooting but was later located and taken into custody in Midway by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.
Officials confirmed that Koller is expected to be charged as an adult. The charges he faces include murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Law enforcement officials say the arrest came after a coordinated effort between multiple agencies working to quickly track down the suspect.
Authorities also announced that the teenager’s parents have been arrested in connection with the case. Police say 55-year-old Thomas Koller and 52-year-old Renee Koller are facing charges of accessory after the fact. Investigators allege that the couple assisted their son in attempting to flee after the shooting, though further details about their involvement have not yet been publicly released.
