PINSON, Ala. — A 48-year-old Trussville man lost his life Thursday afternoon following a serious multi-vehicle crash in eastern Jefferson County, authorities confirmed. The deadly collision occurred during the afternoon hours along a busy stretch of roadway, prompting an investigation by local officials.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Matthew Wade Brasher, 48, of Trussville. Coroner officials said Brasher was the driver and sole occupant of one of the vehicles involved in the crash. The incident happened in the 6700 block of Deerfoot Parkway in Pinson, an area that frequently experiences heavy traffic.
According to investigators, the crash occurred at approximately 3 p.m. on February 5, 2026. Details about how many vehicles were involved or what led up to the collision have not yet been released. Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash was reported and found Brasher suffering from critical injuries.
Brasher was transported by emergency medical personnel to UAB Hospital Main in Birmingham for treatment. Despite lifesaving efforts by doctors and hospital staff, he was pronounced dead at 3:43 p.m., less than an hour after the crash occurred. The coroner confirmed that Brasher died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.
