MADISON COUNTY, Ind. — A devastating two-vehicle crash in rural Madison County on Thursday has claimed the life of a Linton woman and left five others, including two young girls, seriously injured. The collision happened near the intersection of County Roads 1900 North and 200 West, not far from the Madison-Grant County line and just two miles west of Madison-Grant Junior/Senior High School.
According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, the crash occurred when 34-year-old Rebecca Madley was driving along 1900 North with her daughters, ages 10 and 13. As they approached the intersection, a red pickup truck driven by 54-year-old Linda Cox of Frankton reportedly failed to stop and pulled directly into Madley’s path. The result was a violent impact that proved fatal for Cox, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Madley sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis for emergency care. Her daughters were also injured in the crash. The 10-year-old, who suffered multiple broken bones, was transported to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. The 13-year-old was treated in Anderson and has since been released.
Two other adults were inside the red pickup at the time of the collision. Brandon Pollard, 39, and Emily McBroom, 31, were both flown to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. As of Thursday night, McBroom remained in critical condition while Pollard was reported to be in stable condition.
Investigators believe the pickup truck’s failure to yield at the intersection was a significant factor in the crash. They are still working to determine whether additional elements—such as road conditions, visibility, or mechanical failure—contributed to the tragic accident. The intersection where the crash occurred does not have traffic lights, making it especially important for drivers to stop and yield.
The communities of Linton and Frankton have been shaken by the tragedy. Residents have expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Linda Cox and are offering prayers and support for the surviving victims, particularly Madley and her daughters, as they begin the long recovery process.
As the investigation continues, local authorities are urging drivers to obey all traffic signs and remain cautious—especially at rural intersections where visibility can be limited. Further updates on the crash are expected as more information becomes available.
