Bessemer Woman Charged With Murder After Boyfriend Fatally Stabbed During Dispute

A tragic domestic incident in Bessemer has led to the arrest of a 43-year-old woman who is now facing a murder charge following the fatal stabbing of her boyfriend earlier this month. Authorities say the incident unfolded during an altercation between the couple, leaving one man dead and a community searching for answers.

Court records show that Wilhelmina Leigh Carlton, 43, has been charged with the murder of Darius Montreal Boglin, 45. Carlton was taken into custody and booked into the Jefferson County Jail on March 5. Officials say she is currently being held without bond as the case proceeds through the court system.

According to the Bessemer Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 7:49 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, to the 3100 block of Avenue B after receiving reports that a person had been stabbed. When officers arrived at the location, they discovered Boglin lying in a driveway suffering from a serious stab wound.

Detective Justin Burmeister said emergency responders immediately attempted to assess Boglin’s condition upon arrival. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 8:10 p.m. The sudden loss has left family members and friends grieving the death of a man whose life ended in a tragic and violent confrontation.

Authorities reported that Carlton remained at the scene when officers arrived and was taken into custody without incident. Investigators later confirmed that Carlton and Boglin were involved in a dating relationship. Charging documents state that during an argument, Boglin allegedly grabbed Carlton from behind, at which point she stabbed him, resulting in the fatal injury.

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to gather evidence and review the events leading up to the stabbing. Officials with the Bessemer Police Department are asking anyone with additional information about the case to come forward.
