WESTMINSTER, S.C. — Authorities in Oconee County are investigating the deaths of an elderly husband and wife who were found dead Thursday night inside their home near Westminster. The shocking discovery has drawn a strong law enforcement presence to the area as officials work to determine what led to the couple’s deaths.
According to Oconee County officials, 911 Communications received a call at approximately 9:05 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2026, reporting that two people had been found deceased at a residence on Cromer Moore Drive. The call was made by a family member who went to the home to conduct a welfare check after repeated attempts to contact the couple were unsuccessful.
Deputies with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene along with investigators from the Oconee County Coroner’s Office. Upon arrival, authorities confirmed that both individuals were deceased inside the home. The residence was secured as investigators began examining the scene for evidence and possible signs of foul play.
The victims have been identified as Larry Moore, 76, and his wife, Sandra Moore, 75. Officials have not said how long the couple may have been dead before they were discovered. The Moores were well known to their family, and their sudden deaths have left loved ones searching for answers.
