Authorities have since arrested her husband, 53-year-old Shervon Johnson, in connection with the deadly incident. According to the Knoxville Police Department, officers were called to the 2700 block of Jefferson Avenue around 5:30 p.m. on May 23 after receiving reports of gunfire. When officers arrived at 2729 Jefferson Avenue, they discovered Lakeisha Johnson outside the home suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Emergency responders quickly assessed the situation, but sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene before she could be transported for medical treatment.
Investigators immediately began treating the case as a homicide investigation. Detectives spent hours gathering evidence, speaking with witnesses, and reviewing surveillance footage from the area. Officials later announced that investigative findings pointed to Lakeisha’s husband, Shervon Johnson, as the primary suspect in the case.
