51-year-old Kimberly Stewart Found Dead on Indianapolis’ Southwest Side

A quiet neighborhood on the southwest side of Indianapolis was shaken late Tuesday night after a woman was found dead under troubling circumstances, prompting a homicide investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

According to police, officers were called around 11 p.m. to the 1300 block of South Lynhurst Drive, near West Morris Street and Plainfield Avenue, after receiving a report about a possible death. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a woman suffering from trauma-related injuries. Emergency responders rushed to help, but sadly the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities later identified the victim as 51-year-old Kimberly Stewart. Her sudden and tragic death has left investigators searching for answers about what happened during the moments leading up to the incident. Police have not yet shared details about the exact cause of her injuries, but officials confirmed that the case is being treated as a homicide.

Investigators from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said a person at the scene was briefly detained while officers gathered information. However, that individual was later released, and no arrests have been made at this time. Detectives are continuing to examine evidence and speak with people who may have information that could help piece together the events surrounding Stewart’s death.

Officials say homicide detectives are carefully reviewing the scene, collecting evidence, and interviewing possible witnesses in the area. The goal, they say, is to understand exactly what happened and determine who may be responsible. Cases like this often take time as investigators work to verify details and follow leads.

Police are urging members of the community to come forward with any information that might assist in the investigation. Anyone who may have seen something unusual in the area or who has relevant details is encouraged to contact Detective Michal Dinnsen at the IMPD Homicide Office. Authorities stress that even the smallest piece of information could help bring clarity and justice in the case of Kimberly Stewart’s tragic death.
