BRADENTON, Fla. — A deadly act of workplace violence rocked a medical and office complex in Bradenton on Thursday afternoon, leaving one woman dead and another employee fighting for her life. Bradenton Police say the shooting occurred inside a suite of offices in the 5200 block of 4th Avenue Circle East, prompting a swift response from officers and emergency crews.
Police were dispatched to the scene at approximately 12:48 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire inside the building. When officers arrived, they found 29-year-old Myshaela Burnham suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. Investigators determined that Burnham was confronted and shot by Keith Roberts Jr., 29, her former boyfriend. Burnham was pronounced deceased at the scene.
During the shooting, a second woman — an employee who witnessed the attack — was also shot. Authorities say the victim sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a local hospital, where she remains hospitalized in serious condition. Her identity has not been released as police continue the investigation and notify family members.
Officials later confirmed that the shooting took place inside a laboratory processing facility located within the office complex. The incident has raised serious concerns about workplace safety, particularly in professional environments where employees do not expect violent confrontations. Several workers and nearby occupants were evacuated as police secured the area.
Witnesses both inside the building and in the surrounding area immediately provided crucial information to responding officers. Multiple 911 callers described hearing gunshots and reported seeing a vehicle speeding away from the complex shortly after the shooting. That information helped investigators quickly identify a suspect and begin tracking his movements.
Bradenton Police say Keith Roberts Jr. was later located and arrested in connection with the shooting. He is facing serious charges related to Burnham’s death and the critical injury of the second victim. Detectives continue to interview witnesses and collect evidence as the case moves forward. Authorities say this remains an active investigation and additional details, including formal charges and court dates, are expected to be released in the coming days.
