Authorities in Richland County have identified the victim killed in a Thursday afternoon shooting on Monticello Road near Columbia as 18-year-old Jordan T. Miller, a local resident. The incident has left family, friends, and neighbors grieving the sudden and tragic loss of a young life.
According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were dispatched around 12:15 p.m. to the 7300 block of Monticello Road after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Jordan Miller was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Investigators determined that both victims and the suspect knew each other and had arranged to meet at the location prior to the shooting. Officials said that upon arriving, the suspect allegedly began firing at the victims, leading to the fatal outcome. The suspect was later identified as 20-year-old Anthony Boyd.
At approximately 7 p.m. Thursday, deputies with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department Fugitive Task Force and Special Response Team located Boyd and took him into custody without incident. Boyd has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
