The Clearwater community is reeling after a deadly shooting outside a local sports bar on Sunday evening. According to the Clearwater Police Department (CPD), the incident occurred just before 8 p.m. on South Highland Avenue, where multiple 911 callers reported hearing gunfire near the business. When officers rushed to the scene, they discovered a man lying in the parking lot who had suffered fatal injuries. He was later identified as 24-year-old Jordan Javontay Walls, whose death has sparked deep concern and sadness among residents.
As officers secured the area, authorities said they soon learned that four additional victims had been taken to Morton Plant Hospital in a private vehicle. The car reportedly dropped off the injured individuals and left before police could make contact or gather information. CPD identified the wounded victims as Teron Dudley, Jaheim Maxie, Larmar Jackson, and Antwone Holmes. Among them, Holmes sustained the most serious injuries and was later transferred to Bayfront Hospital in St. Petersburg for advanced medical care.
Detectives have emphasized that the shooting does not appear to have been a random act. Based on early evidence and witness accounts, investigators believe the violence stemmed from a targeted incident involving individuals who knew or were connected to one another. CPD has assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the wider community, though they acknowledge that such violent events create fear and anxiety for those who live and work nearby.
Authorities say they are searching for two men believed to be responsible for the shooting. The suspects were reportedly seen wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident, though police have not yet released additional details about their identities or possible motives. Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from the surrounding area and continuing to interview witnesses in an effort to piece together what led to the deadly exchange of gunfire.
Residents have expressed shock and frustration over the shooting, calling for accountability and urging anyone with information to step forward. Local leaders are also stressing the importance of community cooperation, noting that solving cases like this often depends on the willingness of witnesses and neighbors to assist investigators.
The Clearwater Police Department is asking anyone who may have seen something unusual or who has knowledge of the shooting to contact CPD at 727-562-4242. As the investigation moves forward, the community mourns the loss of Jordan Walls and prays for healing for the surviving victims.
