Two Truck Drivers Killed in Fiery Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 12 in Attala County

Authorities have identified the two truck drivers who died following a major crash involving multiple vehicles on Highway 12 in Attala County. The tragic collision occurred Friday morning near the county line with Holmes County and has prompted an ongoing investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Troopers reported that the crash involved two commercial trucks and another vehicle. Investigators said one of the trucks, which was hauling logs, was driven by John Hedges, 45, of Kilmichael. The second truck, transporting pipes, was driven by Raul Rosquete of Clearwater. Both drivers were traveling along Highway 12 at the time of the devastating crash.

According to preliminary findings from troopers, the log truck crossed the center line of the highway and collided with the other 18-wheeler traveling in the opposite direction. The impact of the collision was severe, and authorities reported that both trucks caught fire shortly after the crash. The flames quickly engulfed the vehicles, creating a dangerous situation for anyone nearby.

Officials later confirmed that both drivers died as a result of the collision and the ensuing fire. Emergency responders worked quickly to control the flames and secure the crash site, but the damage from the fiery crash was extensive. The tragic loss of the two drivers has deeply affected those who knew them and highlights the serious dangers associated with major highway accidents involving large commercial vehicles.

Investigators also reported that a third vehicle later collided with the rear of one of the trucks involved in the crash. That vehicle also caught fire after the impact. Authorities said the driver of that vehicle, a woman, was able to escape from the car before the fire spread and fortunately was not injured in the incident.

Emergency crews remained at the scene for several hours as they worked to contain the fire, remove the wreckage, and clear the roadway. Portions of Highway 12 were temporarily closed to traffic while investigators documented the scene and arranged for the damaged vehicles to be removed. The Mississippi Highway Patrol continues to review the circumstances surrounding the crash as part of its ongoing investigation.
