A quiet neighborhood in Junction City, Kansas, was shaken by violence on the afternoon of January 17, 2025, after police responded to a report of a man suffering from possible gunshot wounds. When officers with the Junction City Police Department arrived, they found 66-year-old John Day, a longtime Junction City resident, seriously injured. Police said Day appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound. First responders quickly provided aid before transporting him to Stormont Vail Flint Hills Hospital in an effort to save his life.
