Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Dixie Highway and San Jose Avenue at approximately 5:44 a.m. after receiving reports of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, first responders found the victim, later identified as Joanna H. Beaver, with severe injuries. Despite immediate medical attention at the scene, Beaver was pronounced dead just five minutes later at 5:49 a.m. from blunt force trauma, according to police reports.

Authorities said Beaver was crossing the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk when the collision occurred.
