North Preston Grieves the Loss of 28-Year-Old Jayden Tynes After Tragic Shooting

NORTH PRESTON, N.S. — The quiet community of North Preston has been left in shock and sorrow after the tragic death of 28-year-old Jayden Tynes, who was fatally shot on Saturday evening, November 2. What began as a peaceful weekend quickly turned into heartbreak as news spread of the young man’s untimely passing, leaving friends, family, and neighbors struggling to comprehend the tragedy.

According to the RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment, officers were called to reports of gunfire near the intersection of Cain Street and Clarence Street at around 4:58 p.m. When police and paramedics arrived at the scene, they found Jayden suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency Health Services (EHS) quickly transported him to the hospital, but despite all lifesaving efforts, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. His death has since been ruled a homicide, prompting an intense investigation by law enforcement.

The RCMP/HRP Integrated Major Crime Unit is leading the investigation, supported by the Integrated General Investigative Section, RCMP Forensic Identification Services, and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service. Officers spent hours combing the scene for evidence and speaking to witnesses in the area.
