24-Year-Old Iveth Calderon Killed in Head-On Crash on U.S. 42 in Gallatin County

WARSAW, Ky. — A deadly head-on crash in Gallatin County claimed the life of a young woman Sunday night, according to Kentucky State Police. The collision happened along U.S. 42 East in Warsaw and has left the local community grieving as investigators work to determine what caused the fatal wreck.

Kentucky State Police said troopers were called to the scene around 7:30 p.m. Sunday after receiving reports of a serious two-vehicle crash. When officers arrived, they found extensive damage to both vehicles, indicating a violent head-on impact. Emergency crews immediately began lifesaving efforts while troopers secured the roadway.

The victim was identified as Iveth Salgado Calderon, 24, of Warsaw. State police said Calderon was driving a 2023 Ford Bronco eastbound on U.S. 42 at the time of the crash. Due to the severity of the collision, Calderon suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a preliminary investigation, a 20-year-old driver was operating a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on U.S. 42 when the truck crossed the center line. Troopers said the Silverado entered the eastbound lane and struck Calderon’s vehicle head-on. The force of the crash caused major damage to both vehicles and brought traffic in the area to a standstill.

Authorities have not released the name of the Silverado’s driver or provided details about possible injuries to that individual. Investigators have also not said what caused the truck to cross the center line. Factors such as speed, distraction, impairment, or a medical emergency have not yet been ruled out, and toxicology results, if ordered, have not been released.

The roadway remained impacted for some time as troopers with Kentucky State Police documented the scene and crews worked to clear debris and remove the vehicles. Police emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been announced at this time. Additional details may be released as investigators continue reviewing evidence.

Kentucky State Police are reminding drivers to remain alert and stay in their lanes, noting that head-on crashes are among the most dangerous types of collisions and often result in serious or fatal injuries. The death of Iveth Salgado Calderon marks a tragic loss for the Warsaw community, as family and friends mourn a life cut short. Troopers say their focus remains on determining exactly what happened and ensuring accountability once the investigation is complete.
