30-Year-Old Ina Wengerd Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on State Route 241 in Paint Township

PAINT TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred Friday morning on State Route 241, north of Mount Eaton near milepost 4. The collision claimed the life of a 30-year-old Dalton woman and prompted a multi-agency emergency response.

According to the Patrol, the Wooster Dispatch Center received a report of the crash at approximately 7:36 a.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026. Troopers responded to the scene and found two vehicles that had collided and traveled off the roadway into a ditch on the east side of the highway.

A preliminary investigation determined that a dark blue 2012 Chevrolet Cruze was traveling southbound on State Route 241 when the driver lost control while navigating a slight curve in the road. The vehicle crossed left of center and struck a northbound 2007 Ford EC3 van, officials said.

The driver of the Chevrolet Cruze was identified as Ina M. Wengerd, 30, of Dalton. She was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash. Authorities confirmed that Wengerd was wearing her safety belt at the time of the collision, but the impact proved fatal.

The driver of the Ford van, Zeferino Navarro Vasquez, 27, of Canton, was also wearing a safety belt and was not injured in the crash. Troopers said no other occupants were involved, and no additional injuries were reported.

Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Paint Township Fire and EMS, the Wayne County Coroner’s Office, and Star American Towing. Traffic along State Route 241 was impacted while crews worked to clear the vehicles and investigators documented the scene. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the crash remains under investigation as they continue to determine all contributing factors.
