43-Year-Old Woman Killed in Head-On Crash on Highway 69 in Tuscaloosa County

TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, Ala. — A tragic head-on crash Tuesday night has claimed the life of a 43-year-old Brookwood woman and left two others injured, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. The deadly collision occurred around 8:05 p.m. on Alabama Highway 69 near the 155-mile marker, about seven miles north of Tuscaloosa, along a stretch of roadway known for steady traffic.

Authorities identified the victim as Haley G. Lancaster of Brookwood. Troopers confirmed that Lancaster was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash. The sudden loss has left her community grieving as family members begin the painful process of coping with the unexpected tragedy.

According to investigators, Lancaster was driving a Hyundai Sonata when it collided head-on with a Ford Expedition driven by 45-year-old Elizabeth Broemlage of Northport. The force of the impact caused severe damage to both vehicles, scattering debris across the highway and prompting a significant emergency response. First responders worked quickly to secure the scene and assist those involved.

Broemlage and a 12-year-old passenger riding in the Ford Expedition were injured in the crash. Both were transported to DCH Regional Medical Center for medical treatment. Authorities have not disclosed the extent of their injuries but confirmed they survived the collision. Their current conditions have not been made public.

Senior Trooper Gregory Corble noted that Lancaster was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Law enforcement officials frequently emphasize that seat belt use significantly reduces the risk of fatal injuries during serious accidents. While investigators have not yet determined all contributing factors, they are carefully reviewing evidence from the scene to piece together exactly what happened.

The crash remains under investigation as troopers continue gathering information and analyzing details surrounding the collision. Officials are urging drivers to stay alert, avoid distractions, and always wear seat belts while traveling, especially on highways. As the investigation moves forward, the Tuscaloosa County community is left mourning a life lost too soon and reflecting on the importance of roadway safety.
