54-ear-old Glenn Holmes killed in Fatal Collision With Vehicle in Palisade

PALISADE, Colo. — Authorities have identified the man who was killed in a deadly motorcycle crash involving another vehicle Thursday afternoon in Palisade. The Mesa County Coroner’s Office confirmed Friday that the victim was Glenn Holmes, 54, a resident of Grand Junction. The crash has prompted an ongoing investigation by local police as the community mourns the sudden loss of life.

The collision occurred near the intersection of West 8th Street and Iowa Avenue, an area that sees regular traffic from both residents and visitors. Emergency crews were called to the scene after reports of a motorcycle and a vehicle colliding. Holmes was identified as the driver of the motorcycle involved in the crash. Details about the other vehicle and its driver have not been released.

According to the Mesa County Coroner’s Office, Holmes suffered severe injuries during the crash. He was pronounced dead as a result of those injuries, and an autopsy has since been completed. Officials confirmed that Holmes died directly from injuries sustained in the collision, though they did not disclose further specifics about the nature of those injuries.

Investigators noted that Holmes was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. While the coroner’s office did not state whether the lack of a helmet directly caused or worsened his injuries, law enforcement officials frequently stress that helmets can significantly reduce the risk of fatal head trauma in motorcycle crashes. The use of safety equipment is expected to be a key consideration in the final investigation report.

The Palisade Police Department is handling the crash investigation and says it remains active. Officers are continuing to gather evidence, review the crash scene, and analyze any available witness statements or surveillance footage. Authorities have not said whether speed, impairment, or driver error played a role, and no citations or charges have been announced at this time.

In a statement released Friday, the Palisade Police Department expressed sympathy to those affected by the tragedy. “The Palisade Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this tragic incident,” the department said. Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has additional information to contact the department at 970-242-6707. A final report will be released once all evidence has been fully gathered and reviewed.
