GREENACRES, Fla. — Authorities have identified the suspect and two victims in a deadly double shooting that unfolded Monday morning inside a Greenacres apartment, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. The incident has left two families grieving and raised questions about what led to the fatal violence.
PBSO identified the suspect as 60-year-old Juan Estevez-Mesa. Deputies said he shot and killed two women, 25-year-old Brianna Rodriguez-Quintana and 59-year-old Milvia Quintana-Placeres. Investigators confirmed that all three individuals lived in the same apartment on Shady Pine Way, where the shooting occurred.
The sheriff’s office said deputies were called around 7 a.m. Monday to reports of shots fired in the 500 block of Pine Way. When deputies arrived, they found one woman dead at the scene and another woman suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical crews rushed the injured victim to a local hospital for treatment.
Later Monday, authorities confirmed that the second victim, Quintana-Placeres, died from her injuries at the hospital. Deputies also said that the suspect, Estevez-Mesa, retreated into the apartment following the shooting. As law enforcement attempted to make contact, the situation escalated further.
Investigators later determined that Estevez-Mesa shot and killed himself inside the apartment. The sheriff’s office said there is no ongoing threat to the public. Officials also confirmed that the suspect and the victims knew each other, though they have not released details about the relationship or what may have led to the shooting.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deadly incident. Detectives are reviewing evidence and conducting interviews to piece together the timeline of events. Authorities have not released a possible motive and say more information may become available as the investigation progresses. The tragic shooting has left the Greenacres community shaken as residents mourn the loss of two lives.
