Two Dead, Three Injured After Gunfire Erupts at Private Event in Palm Springs

A late-night disturbance turned deadly in Palm Springs after officers responded to reports of a fight and gunfire just after midnight. According to the Palm Springs Police Department, multiple 911 calls came in reporting an altercation in the area of 19345 N. Indian Canyon Drive. What began as reports of a fight quickly escalated into a devastating shooting scene that left two people dead and three others injured.

Police said five individuals were struck by gunfire during the incident. Two adults, including Erv Simmons, were transported to a nearby hospital, where they were later pronounced deceased. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the second victim pending notification of family members. The loss has sent shockwaves through the community as investigators work to determine what led to the deadly confrontation.

Three other victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to recover. Officials confirmed they are cooperating with investigators as detectives continue gathering statements and reviewing evidence. The condition of the injured victims has not been detailed further, but authorities emphasized that their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

News crews from KESQ observed numerous evidence markers scattered outside a business within the industrial complex where the shooting occurred. The markers painted a sobering picture of the violence that unfolded in what is typically a quiet commercial area. Authorities indicated that a motorcycle club had been hosting a private event at the location when a disagreement reportedly escalated into gunfire.

Detectives, along with the department’s Crime Scene Unit and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Forensics Services Unit, worked through the early morning hours processing the scene. Investigators carefully collected evidence, documented shell casings, and interviewed witnesses in an effort to piece together the timeline of events.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not yet announced any arrests or charges. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward as they continue seeking answers and accountability. Meanwhile, the Palm Springs community is left mourning the lives lost and grappling with the violence that shattered what began as a private gathering.
